Description:

This polygon feature class represents the MS4 area boundaries in the City of Boca Raton. This dataset was created by Mock Roos based on topographic information from the Palm Beach County LiDAR data, SFWMD permits (that identified project areas and where they discharge), and what existed (at that time) of the City's stormwater infrastructure/outfalls. Some areas were assumed and determined based on limited available data.

The MS4 area is where the MS4 permit actually applies. Although there may be programs and regulations that cover your entire jurisdictional area, when push comes to shove, the City is only responsible for applying the permit requirements to the area of the MS4 contribution.

This defined area also is also a very significant parameter in determining the City's MS4 pollutant loading contribution to the various WBIDs (waterbodies) into which it discharges. The City does not want to be assigned more loading than its MS4 contributes. If/when there are adopted TMDLs in waterbodies into which the City discharges, the amount of reduction that the City will be required to achieve will translate into dollars for projects that are needed to meet the reduction goals.
